Year 2021
Fan Project is one of Jaajr's research during her master's program in craft and design in London. The fans are made from shiny materials to play with the concept of shininess and the continuous change of energy.
This project was awarded first prize in the Fan competition hosted by The Worshipful Company of Fan Makers in 2021.

This collection celebrates life’s continuous evolution and transformation, symbolized through the spiral pattern that is made by playing with the art of pattern making in dress-making process, capturing the dynamic flow of change, growth, and renewal.
The lamp represents the home as a sanctuary—a safe space where one can reflect, grow, and transform in one’s own time. The spiral pattern that wraps around the form reflects the interplay between stillness and motion, grounding the present moment while representing the never-ending journey of self-discovery and change.

Pearl Sconce
This piece explores the idea of revelation and secrecy by incorporating elements from jewelry design, such as prongs and a gemstone-like porcelain light globe.
The form of this piece has contrast between the inner and outer shell. Whether the light is on or off, the surfaces interact with light in completely different ways, creating a dynamic relationship between light and shadow. Also, curve lines that connect between prongs suggest a form resisting openness, as if striving to protect the light or darkness within.

Fan Project
Jaajr’s first creation of the fan in this project was made from mirror cardboard as She explored the sense of visual attraction through the relationship between the continuous movement of the handheld fan and shiny materials. When the fan is in use, the light reflects on the fan leaf and creates a mesmerizing glimmering effect that illuminates the surrounding area and also provides a visual attraction to the user. The movement of the fan perfectly synchronizes with the glimmering reflection, bringing the piece to life and creating a harmonious visual experience.
The concept of this project was in response to the brief set by The Worshipful Company of Fan Makers, which challenged the new generation designers and makers to reimagine the traditional fans and explore innovative ways to enhance its design. After careful consideration and development, this project was awarded first prize in the competition in 2021.
