✹  Yayoi Kusama infinity mirror rooms at Tate Modern
12th October 2021

So I went to Yayoi Kusama infinity mirrors yesterday but haven’t written about it yet as I have lots of thoughts to reflect to and need sometimes to think about it, I found such a strong connection with the artist and the work she produced.

First of all, lately I have been feeling lost, I don’t know who I am or what I want to do or be. I like many things and shift my practice to a bit of here and there as I get bored. I’m so stressed from the fear of not practicing with one specific medium , and not getting good at anything , Now I’m thinking of trying painting as I feel like it easier to make it at home as I now has to work in the evening, anyway once I learn more about contemporary artist, like Kusama herself, I found that she has engaged in many different form of media and just enjoy making things, so I feel more at ease of what I’m doing right now,

Secondly, I LOVE mirrors!!! I will write about it again in another post, here I want to talk about how brilliant Kusama has used mirror in her work, mirror is simple, it’s in our daily life, but it’s one of a few if not only material that can provide the sense of infinity, space can be expanded, light can be doubled, the infinite room not only give me the sense of The Universe and dreams within dreams but also it reminds me of our existence in it, most importantly I love simple work like this, who would have thought that light and mirror can create such a powerful environment like this to the audience, not to mention the visual quality of colour and the size of the dots, it simply sent me to the outer outer space, I enjoy every second of 5 mins I had been inside of this room,

Lastly, the fact that Kusama had moved to USA not long after the WWII has amazed me how brave she was, one of the reasons why I decided to move here during pandemic is because of her, it must be really difficult for her, racism and feminism was different back then, yes I have faced different struggles now but knowing her story just give me so much hope during this challenging time
