✹ Matisse mini exhibition

Today I have been visiting Henri Matisse exhibition in Eames Fine Art. ‘Florilège des Amours de Ronsard’ is a lithograph print collection that Matisse made in 1948. Which he had been working on for seven years, including the war time. The collection was produced to accompany a book of sonnets by the sixteenth-century French lyric poet Pierre de Ronsard. It’s full of flowers, leaves and women.

Almost looks like a sketch yet the line is so well defined. I found his work really joyful, simple and relaxing. Some just consist of two or three lines yet it gave me the feeling of ease. The fluidity of form with out colours and context, some may sees it as ‘just a line’ but I feel like he has given me the sense of letting go. Just made whatever feel right for you - this is what I assume looking at his art work.
